I'll always take the opportunity to plug the late, brilliant, Ian Dury, and the Blockheads "Spasticus Autisticus" as our theme. Here is the controversy
and here lies the video at Youtube
Can't touch all the fantastic name changes but want to add that I am reminded of a comment made by an MS patient who strongly believes that all reference to disease and illness be removed as it holds back progress in research and treatments:
Here is where all the lies have started. MS is NOT an illness. It's a SYMPTOM.
I daresay that what is still being termed PD is the same deal. It is cluster of symptoms that express underlying trauma to the brain. It is given a label for insurance purposes and for us, well, it is in other words saying we do not know what the underlying problem is but we know the symptoms and can help you control them.
Further, she says:
Multple Sclerosis in combination with known neurological symptoms solely for the sake of diagnosis and possible treatment.
Please don't shut me down for this, it is a fact and I've been saying it for years. Calling the condition MS is like naming the flu the Vomiting Syndrome and doing everything to treat the vomiting only. Well, that would result in long time suffering. Sound familiar?
FACT - There had never been a treatment for MS before because the underlying cause had never been identified. The disease modifying drugs are NOT a treatment. They only increase the chance of decreasing the number of attacks per year. That's it. They don't make anyone feel better and with the numerous side effects, they make patients worse. It's not a treatment, never has been and never will be. If everything, those drugs are the real placebo.
Check out that last sentence...what if? Seems like we could easily substitute PD in much of this.
Carry on with the great names, Robert, you are on a roll!
