By STEPHEN OHLEMACHER and RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR

Like we've gotten much COLA recently! This year's modest increase followed two years of NOTHING, even though expenses went up. When people live on such small incomes, no cost-of-living increases simply means the burden will shift to other programs as people need help.

No, the question everyone should be asking is why Obama lowered the Social Security payroll tax when everyone knows that the fund is running out! The tiny amount each worker is getting means little to the individual but, collectively, it's quite a bite out of Social Security.

i thought that we couldnt put political opinion on this site. i got my hand smacked here a couple of times over this. not that the original post is political per se but the red emphasis and frowny face are definitely political statements.

yes, making partisan political statements here is against our guidelines, which call for limited political discussion....
but most importantly, the article from AP was under strict copyright and so cannot be copy/pasted. We could get into serious trouble for copyright infringement if we allow it up that way.
Please, when a site has the copyright notice on the bottom of an article, only post a title, short "snip" and then the link, and do not copy and paste the entire article

OOPS! Sorry. Will not happen again.

Thanks for edit & the heads up. In the future will just be posting links & short snips on all articles I find just to be on the safe side.
