Default Another newbie :)

Hi, I'm from the Uk, a single mum of 4 and recently diagnosed with cervical myelopathy due to a massive disc prolapse at C5/6, scheduled for ACDF in 3 weeks. I have had neck issues for years, a couple of accidents and recurrent torticollis and was always told it was soft tissue damage and given painkillers and diazepam till I began just before xmas with progressive neurological symptoms, tripping up, numbness, gait disturbance and lack of balance though to be honest I'd had twitching and hand problems while reaching for change etc for about 3 years but put it down to the cold...anyway, the MRI shows a really badly prolapsed disc and severe cord compression, I'm on the urgent list for this surgery and very scared. Just yesterday I noticed a marked worsening of my walking especially, I can barely put one foot in front of the other,( I have used a cane since Feb). I would like to know if it's usual for big and quick progressions like this, am I still ok to wait for the surgery or do I need to be going to hospital? Also, does anyone think this is likely to be less good news for any recovery of deficit post-operatively (it's myelomalacia I'm scared of obviously) Thanks in advance, x
