OUT of gabapentin ... over the weekend!

Well I got myself into this really dumb situation.

It is the weekend, and I have exactly 1200 mg of gabapentin left. that needs to cover Saturday, Sunday, and at least half of Monday. It is not even enough to really taper decently.

See, I waited till the last minute to get a script for gabapentin. I have seen mdoc a few times recently but either had too many things to ask or I forgot.

Last week, I meant to ask pdoc... but I forgot.

When I saw pdoc this Thursday, when I knew I really needed one, but wouldn't you know... I clean forgot!

Ok, I figured, no biggie - just go to mdoc Friday eve. Except, guess what? ..................Yup! Once again,

I forgot!

I have 4 pills left. I take 4 a day!

I dug through my entire closet to find the script from last August - I'm sure it's expired, but it is at least a script. If I can't beg my pharmacy to let me have it if i promise to bring them a script monday night (and i better not forget! I am sort of SOL as of Monday morning if not sooner.

Krap krap krap krap KRAPPPP!!!!!

I hope they will take pity on me... here pills are not dispensed like in the US. Here they all come boxed, so it's not like they could just give me a few pills to tide me over either.

It should be good for a year, at least they are here in the US! I hope to goodness they fill the one from August for you! I am so sorry that it slipped your mind, but you know you're only human waves, try to get the one filled from August...Good luck!!! (((hugs)))

Can you text your pdoc and see what he has to say?
Go to the pharmacy in the morning. Maybe they have a work-a-round.

Have you been on the Gabapentin long enough to need a taper? Do you have other meds that are protective against seizure?

Sometimes the Chemist will fill the script if it's been filled there before. It would be on record. They sometimes do that here anyway. Then we just need to take the script in asap.

sorry for this dear waves....I think the scripts are good for a year here like pammie said, but maybe it is different there.
I hope the pharmacy fills it for you.

eye appointments today

different drugs different durations

eg
opiods, no refills and pharmacy withdraws prescription (duration = nil)
benzo's one month
other meds i've had 3 months
my sinus med (steroid spray) 6 months

6 months is the longest i've heard.

Mari i do need to taper some yes... can't go from 1200 to zero. i'll figure something out if the pharmacy doesnt cooperate and yes good idea to text pdoc about it. maybe just 600 - 300 - 300 will do tho... argh. or i can do something fancier with pill-splitting. can't take less than 600 today tho and that's 2 of my pills gone.

yes, i am up half an hour earlier (have eye doctor appt) so i can slip into the pharmacy with my pretty-sure it's really old script. they wouldn't go near it if i were asking for a benzo but they might for this and yes they know me.

other thing is not sure it's the script that's been filled before... but it was all i could find - it's one that i took on holiday... has all my meds on it - eeks -, that's not a technical problem for validity... it just looks... well... never mind.

but like i said. it's not a year here, not fixed anyway.

i must go.... i'll let you know what happens. i feel a bit better. i'll be ok.

oh and yes i have benzo's and not limited in getting them, so i can take lorazepam or something to cover against seizures.

Pharmacist said "it's a med they can be flexible about" since she saw that i had an old (very very expired) script.

script lasts 3 months for this one, btw.

anyway... i'm all set. whew. now I

MUST remember to get a Depakote script

this coming week!!!

(She mentioned depakote as an example of a med they DO have to be sticklers about! )
