Default Yes WAVES!!!!!!!

Yes, PCP was not happy with what and HOW my proceedure was talked about. I got NO information, nor was shown MRI. He WAS arrogant, and told me not one name of any of the problems, their terms, and what it meant for me. He told me he would make three cuts, and pointed on my ankle, and that was about it. I got my records, nowthe ball is in my court, and I will question all before I submit to this at all. I call tomorrow. I was already told he was booked up, and that he would not probably see me until the surgery. NOPE that is not good enough for me. So I will see him, and get the questions answered, or he will not be the one to address my issues. Yes the PCP is awsome, Dr. Polanko, a very compassionate doctor, who has my best interestsl in his hands. He earned my trust, and Igo to him with all question, even about my family issues. He is kept informed too, of everything! A true blessing in my life.
Thanks for caring Waves, I am listening to all of you very carefully. Thank God we have each other. We help each other make informed choices and not get pushed around. Thank you Waves and all my friends here for helping me through this time too. Love you all ginnie

Ginnie,
Can the PCP help you find another surgeon so you can get a second opinion?

Ginnie,

Keep listening to the PCP and what your own gut is telling you.

Default Hi Mari

Yes Mari, If I cannot talk to this new surgeon, my own PCP will get me to someone. I have faith in that. I find out tomorrow just what is up, as I am insisting on another office call and dicussion. I am in good hands with this PCP and he will make sure I am doing all the right things. He cares about me like you do, and the friends I have here. Treats a person like a real person, not just a patient. He even knows all about my disfunctional family. Knows my emotionsl quirks etc. He is a blessing. It will be OK, will let you know tomorrow what I can find out. thank you!!!!!!! ginnie

Does the PCP think that you should not have the surgery?

Default Hi Mari

PCP only wants me to do part one of a two part surgery. first is the real repair of the tendons, tendon replacement. Cut on three places on the ankle, correct colapsed arch, move my heel back into proper position. It is the second part he is against flat out. It involves fusion of the great toe joint. That was to be done three weeks into the healing process. This joint is responsible for a persons balance. As you know the older we get the more our balance matters. If I do not heal right, and that center of balance is taken away, I may never get on my ankle or my foot again. So he wants me to wait to do that until I heal completely, try some PT on the joint first while I am already in PT from the first part. He is worried that something could go wrong that I don't heal right from this. He doesn't want two strikes against me. I think he is right. It may make my surgeon mad that I don't want to do this part right now. I am worried Mari, and I am going to follow my PCP and his advise over the surgeons. I will call that surgeon tomorrow. Thank you for caring Mari, I so appreciate being able to talk about this. Walking is a big deal, and I sure don't want to loose that. talk to you soon, sleep good tonight. I am just about ready to crawl in bed with a book. ginnie

I think the surgeon has no clue what your like.

The pcp has a good idea what you can be like and the needs you have.

So he is the one to listen too.

Ginnie,

Call the surgeon's office tomorrow with the message that you are postponing the second surgery for now.
Now that you have made the decision to only focus on one surgery, you will have an easier time of making plans.

You are doing great. I send good thoughts.

Ginnie,

The surgeon is not going to get mad. Surgeons do not have feelings like other doctors do.
