Has anyone taken it, or had an alergic reaction to it? The literature said something about swollen tongue, throat etc. I have had that shock from bee stings. I am a little hesitant about trying it.My doctor didn't think I would have any trouble, I am just a little cautious. Any feed back I would appreciate. ginnie
I have never taken Ambien. But I know people who have. It's a weird drug. Some people do just fine with it. Others, while on it, appear to be perfectly normal and awake but really aren't. When I lived with my bf he would get up in the middle of the night and do weird things like open and close doors, eat, call people up, etc. and would have no recollection of doing those things.

DD20 sometimes has trouble sleeping. She tried something called NeuroSleep. It worked really well for her and we always have some here just in case she can't sleep. I don't remember exactly what is in it but I know it has a lot of magnesium in it. If you do a google search you can find it and read reviews. Some people, like my daughter, only need 1/2 bottle.

I think I've been having trouble sleeping because my mind won't shut off. I have so much going on right now with both my health and everyday life situations. I also started taking a new med, Protonix, and am not sure if that is contributing to it as well. I haven't checked that out.

People have told me Ambien worked for them, but I know someone personally who tried it, had hallucinations, was curled up in a corner shaking and crying, and ended up in a dangerous situation and had no knowledge of it. It was terrifying for those of us who know her. If I were going to take that, I'd make sure I was with somebody who knew the possible ramifications.

We did errands this morning, and I've spent the rest of the day doing laundry, putting food away. I'm so going to be sorry. But tomorrow I can relax and read for half the day. My husband is happy because they had four kinds of muffins on the half-price shelf: sour cream, cranberry, blueberry, and maple walnut. I cut them in half and freeze them.

Vidalia onions were buy one bag, get one free. I don't know what I'm going to do with the second bag. If I can find a recipe for onion rings that you can bake and not fry, I'll use some that way. Or I can give them to somebody! I used to love onion sandwiches. Well, I still do, but they don't love me.

B2Y, my mother used to peel Vidalia onions and bake them. She'd put a big dollop of butter, some salt and pepper, cover them with foil and bake them till they were tender. If we were having a cookout she'd wrap them in foil individually and put them on the grill. So yummy!

I freeze stuff, too. It's alot of work but saves me time and money in the long run. I've gotten to where I'll put two slices of bread in a baggie and then fill up a quart sized freezer bag with individual baggies of bread. Just take out what I need when I need it.

Evening all...

Took the pup for a walk with DH...ahhh such a nice spring evening!! We get through our winters to experience evenings like this

T hope you can let your mind go free and rest...it's so difficult though isn't it?

I'm looking up horseback riding lessons for the disabled...my neuro believes that this helps MS patients with core, balance, muscle tone, and cog fog. We'll see...

Have a great evening all...

Default thank you Debbie

Thank you Debbie for talking to me about Ambien. I am listening whole heart. I read some stuff on it that scared me too. the whole script sits unused on bed stand. I was afraid of it, I guess no with good cause. I already have emotional issues, wanting to jump out of an airplane without parashoot wouldn't be my idea of good travel experience either! Glad of warning, doubt I will take it. ginnie

Default Hi tkrik

Thank you for input about ambien. I have not tried it yet and I don't think I will. I already have emotional issues, getting up in the night and doing weird things isn't something I care to do. I get up and have a cookie now and then as it is, brush teeth go back to bed. Not good I know. don't want to add to that for sure. I am listening to all about this. Thank you. ginnie

Yep, your post was the corker, I am not taking ambien. My emotional state is already having trouble. sitting crying and shaking is not an activity I need or want! I am sure glad we have this site to talk over things before we engage in them. Caution, can save us alot of problems. I will also bring this to the attention of my PCP and tell him why I am not taking them. May tell him about the posts here too. thanks blessings, How is hubby coming along after procedure? ginnie

Hi everyone - I made it to Ohio. Now I am exhausted and my mom wants to go shopping. We did go to the mall today for about 2 hours.

Ginnie -- I am late to the discussion about ambien. I have taken it for several years without problems. I now take ambien cr. It does not always work but I have not had any unusual problems with it.

Yours was the first post to say something positive about ambien. I still am not sure because I am emotional what it might do. I am going back to PCP in not too long, and I will ask him. thanks barb, Happy mothers day. ginnie

Barb, have fun with your Mom. I think it's great that she is still so active although I know it can be a mixed blessing when you're the one she wants to "go and do" with. My sister is coming for a visit next Saturday and I'm already concerned that I'll be able to do all she wants to do.

So what does everyone have planned this weekend. My oldest son is coming over tomorrow. My youngest son already had plans to be out of town this weekend so he won't be back until sometime on Sunday. It's supposed to rain all day Sunday so it sounds like a good day to stay inside and watch TV!! Kind of what I do every weekend!

I'm watching a family of Sparrows on my bird feeder. Several of them are babies and the adults are trying hard to keep up with them and feed them. They're so cute.

I hope everyone has a good Mother's Day weekend. I miss my Mom so much but love all the memories I have of her.
