Confused TN, GN or both??

Hi All,
I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia, even though my most severe pain was in the ear, 4 years ago after 5 months of run around. I have been on various meds but currently Tegratol and Baclofen are doing the trick for the most part. I do have break through ear pain and some face pain on a regular basis but it is not too bad. I am looking for some information before I make a decision on surgery and hopefully that is where this Board can help. I really want to hear about other people's experience especially since it seems like I might have Geniculate Neuralgia instead of or in addition to TN and my doctor's don't talk about GN very much and if MVD will address that neuralgia.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone
Kay
