I've had the cellulitis ugh is right!!
What also will help immensely is getting your glucose down ASAP. Bacteria feed on high sugar content from the blood. If you don't have a meter and strips you can get one from Walmart or Target, no rx needed. You want to keep your #s under 140 2 hours after a meal. Remember it's not just sugar that is carbs. Pasta, rice, breads, potatoes fruit .

You can PM me if you'd like, I've had D for 12 years. Currently on OmniiPod.

Oh Twink, that just sounds absolutely miserable!! I'm sorry you are feeling so crummy.

There is nothing worse than worrying about infections on your face and then feeling self conscious.

And then you've got lower body issues too. UGH. I found that using Tucks Wipes which are meant for hemorhoids (sp?) to be very helpful for consistent diarrhea or any irritation in that area. They are very soothing and I feel they clean the area well. You can find them in the regular drug store

I agree with MrsD that you should get this infection cultured immediately so they can get you on the correct antibiotic. Even if its regular old staph sometimes you just need to be on the antibiotic for a longer period of time (for example I was having repeat staph infections and they put me on Bactrim DS for a month. Wow, that just saved me! Low grade fever went away, lots of energy back and it killed the skin infections off for good. Bactrim DS does typically cover MRSA.

As far as the mycobacterium, that is a whole different matter, I recently discovered. Those are tough buggers and depending on what strain they can take up to 4-6 weeks to grow in the cultures. It also requires being on 2-3 antibiotics at a time for long periods of time. I won't bore you with the details of my horror story (you can go back and read my recent posts) but the docs think I might have gotten a mycobacterium infection from a pedicure. Its been 3 1/2 weeks and nothing has grown on my cultures yet. Yikes! But I wouldn't worry about mycobacterium yet. The first thing to do is go get those sores/zits cultured. It could be you've had the staph in your body for do long you need a longer course of antibiotics.

In the meantime, I hope you are feeling better soon. It just stinks having multiple health problems simultaneously! Sending you warm positive healing energy.

Sorry Twink that you are having such a rough time of it.

Hope that the meds work and you really find out what it is and how
you contacted it.

Wishing you well and prayers with you.
