So I would not be surprised it caused you to not want to eat as much or
not at all at times. It didn't make me have quite the big problem, but
it did slow down the need.

When I have trouble with my acid reflux things like the stuff you are taking
do not work. And I would have trouble with stomach and sometimes coughing
would happen too, so throat would start to be involved. So they prescribed
nexium. Its the only thing that worked for me.

Now when I start to have problems though its constipation that is involved,
so I take fiber tablets and I drink hot or warm tea. And eat brand and other
things good for the constipation problem. Not saying this is you.
Its just me.

I tried the Topamax for the appetite suppressant affect, and it didn't work. How ever,my sister said recently that I've lost weight. While taking the seroquel,I gained weight, now I've lost a little weight. My nurse practitioner didn't try the Topamax very long, and it's been more then 6 months since I've had Topamax. ??? I don't know. ??? BF

Hi Ginnie, looks like we posted around the same time and I didn't see your post until now. better late than never.

thank so much for the information. i did not know that PPI's could prevent B12 absorption. i hope not to have to take them for long, butcha never know. thank you.

'preciate the reassurance about the test too... i hope it is a breeze without sedation or twilight sedation because nobody does those here.

anyway the pill i am on gives me kind of a bad feeling? so, when i finish them i really want to see what a simple bland diet will do for me.

Topamax' effect varies on different people and not everyone loses appetite and weight, although most do to varying degrees.

When you tried the Topamax, did you weigh yourself regularly, on the same scale? That would be the only way to be sure if you lost weight. If your clothes fit looser would be suggestive but it could mean weight redistribution. Either of thsese could occur, even if your appetite "seemed" the same.

My best guess is if there were no weight change/redistribution within a few weeks of stopping Topamax, your current weight loss would be a coincidence, unrelated to the Topamax.

But congratulations on some of those pounds coming off, no matter how it happened!

Default Hi waves

Just a word about that Test. where do you live? Most ENT's give twilight sedation. However the GI specialists do put you under. In most cases, if you have a hernia, or any abmormal thing going on, they want you out and under as they do a biopsy. If you ever had to have the test, upper GI that is, check around to see who does it under general anestheia. You are under for a very short amount of time, and they use a fast acting, fast going away medication. You don't stay sedated long at all. I was in and out, checked in and out in an hour. Not sure how it would be with no sedation, I am not sure I would not put up a fuss, I am a wuss at heart!
In any case, nerves and worry, I am sure that has caused this condition to occur in me. I hope your home life and your worry goes away. It is weird how those sorrows, transfer to ones stomach. I have been on Delixant for several years now. It is nice not to wake early in the morn with tummy troubles. Of course of I want this to reslove for you. Have a good day today waves. ginnie

Dear waves, I missed a whole page of posts!
TEll me more about your throat hurting now.....
surly they would give you something before shoving a tube down your throat....that would seem almost cruel.
(((((HUGS)))))
bizi
am so sorry that you can't have any coffee....UGH!!!!!!!
I finally took a shower yesterday....
Are you having acid reflux? heart burn? cough? Is your mouth dry?Are you drinking enough fluid? Did they send you to a ears nose and throat specialist? Is that an option for you there? Are you still on the topamax? Could this be a side effect of that?

Steve

If you either stopped taking seroquel or have been on it for a while.
The weight loss could be connected to that. You could have stopped
putting on weight from it, and started to lose some.

My son never exactly put any on, but he never lost any on it.
Till he had been on it for a while.

Then when he had been off a while. We had a worry he was lossing to
much. He didn't have any to lose.

He has finally started to put just a little on again.

This is Derrick.

Dear Ginnie

please remember. I am not in US. no sedation, no twilight. period. unless i want to go private and i can't afford it - they still might not agree to it with all my meds.

Dear Bizi,

LOL! what happened did a page get ripped out of your browser??? can you not page back from the last page and pick out the page you missed?

i'll try to summarize.... i mentioned earlier i am on omeprazole. i did not mention dosage duration which is 20mg for 14 days then he doubled it 40 mg for another 14 days). so yes i have been given something, "before" endoscopy. symptoms: initially heartburn, intolerance (pain) with certain foods - vinegar, black pepper, for instance. now it has moved more up to my throat but there has been mild improvement - eg. last night i noticed i can take things with menthol now whereas before the same lozenges were painful even for a few seconds.

i hope that clears things up.

somewhere up here also is a rather longish post back to you regarding how this happened... i don't know. i described a postural thing and i was hoping to get your opinion on that. might i ask you to search back for that post please? the "triggering" event was a tomato sauce made with artichokes from the jar - vinegary. i had not had stomach trouble before that, and was just awake so maybe not fully ready for food let alone this. it gave me a stomach-ache half-way through the meal and i stupidly ate through the other half because this was during the horrid time with my dad and he had prepared it.

I've been on the same amount of seroquel for more then a year. I've been on 625 Mgs a day. I've been on at least 600 Mgs a day for about three years now.

I don't eat very much, but I drink allot of water. I need to exercise more. BF

I deleted my post on my scientific instruments. I don't know why I posted them. I believe that it was not necessary. BF

Well, ok, it may not be necessary, but it seems you wanted to post about them? Maybe you do not want to post about them in this thread? I appreciate that, but if that is the issue, how aout if you start your own thread to talk about your instruments and techie hobbies?

(((((((((hugs)))))))))))
