When my daughter was 2 she was trying to sing Kokomo and sang, "A tika, a Mama, allll the pretty Mama's", instead of, "Bermuda, Bahama, cooome on pretty Mamma".

When you would point to her elbow and ask her what it is she would say, "Isss my belbow".

My son, on Saturday was with us Christmas and grocery shopping when we saw a stocking hanger, the kind you put on the edge of the mantel and the hook hangs down. He thought you were supposed to hang it upside down on the Christmas tree.

This was not what my daughter said but what the person said about her.

When my daughter was 5, she went to a Bible camp. She is a little go getter and it showed at camp. My daughter loves the water and was playing in the stream with a lot of boys that never got in the water. Hayley decided to build a dam in the stream and would bring up the bigger rocks and place them were she could use them. The little boys (same age) would bring her rocks to put in the dam also. At the end of the week all the kids get a paper that gives them a title such as, "Best camper", "best listener" and the like, and the leader of her camp wanted to give her: "Best dam builder ever!" but figured it wouldn't be appropriate for the "Bible camp" so didn't do it. I thought it was great and wanted her to do it but she didn't. I thought it was funny.

About three years ago my 6 year old son was humming the same thing over and over and over and my wife said, "Stop humming" to which he replied, "I'm not humming mom, I'm singing with my mouth closed."

My Grandskids are aware of my disability. My 5 yr old GS was shaking his bottle of 7up and of course, after I told him not to do it, he loosened the lid and out it poured all over the floor.

After DD cleaned it up, I said, if you do that again, I'm going to turn you over my knee. Silence for a long time and then the little darling said, "huh uh, I'm over here and you're over there"

I hit a deer recently and had to take the vehicle into the body shop. I was explaining to my eldest son, "I heard on the radio that car vs. deer collisions in the United States cost over 1 billion dollars a year." "One BILLION dollars! I exclaimed. To be sure he understood how much that was I said, "Wow, that is A LOT of dollars," while shaking my head. He sat quietly in thought then said, "Yeah-That is a lot of bucks." I cracked up! That is my boy!

My 12 year old son and I were talking about a text my wife sent me and I said, "It just says, 'IDK'; do you know what IDK means?" He modded his head in confirmation. I asked, "What does it mean?" He said, "When your body decomposes and returns to the ground." My boy has a great vocab but that is not what IDK stands for. I enjoy that boy!

A coworker of mine had her grandson's 5th birthday recently. The little guy told his grandma, "Today I'm 5." She said, "Your right, you are getting bigger; you are five years old now." He then told her, "Yesterday I was 4." She said, "yep, yesterday you were 4 and today you are 5." He looked puzzled and asked, "then why does my shirt still fit me?" After all, he's getting bigger isn't he?

My eldest son told me a great one last night he heard recently:

“There was a little boy dressed spiffy in a tuxedo for a wedding. The boy walked down the aisle and about every two or three steps he would look to the right, put up his hands to his shoulders as if he was climbing a wall and (my son rather weakly made a noise under his breath which I did not comprehend). The boy continued down the aisle and after a few steps would look to the left with his hands up (and again he made the noise) all the way down vacillating from right to left all the way down the aisle. When the ceremony was over they said/asked the cute boy, “You did such a great job but why were you doing that all the way down the aisle?” The boys said, “I was the ring BEAR.” Finally I understood the noise under my son’s breath. It was supposed to be a guttural growl. Now I get it. I think kids are SO cute!
