Default This is insanity!

Okay. So. Here I am three months later still in pain. want to know the story?
I start passing out at work. Abdominal pain. shaking chills sweating etc. EVERYTHING I EAT MAKES ME SICK.
9 ER VISITS.
5 CT scans.
3 ABDOMINAL XRAYS
1 ENDOSCOPY
2 ULTRA SOUNDS
all normal.

Except the HIDA scan, that was normal except for increased pain. So they removed my gallbladder. It went badly. Hospitalized for a week. They kept telling me to wait, not getting better. go to a specialist. says I have IBS, does full celiac panel everything is normal except my immunoglobulin A is 65 and normal range is 90-414

possibly causing a false positive for celiac disease?
i just can't take this anymore.

My Mood:
Default Actually, that low immunoglobulin A--

--would more likely cause a false NEGATIVE reading on the celiac Iga anti-gliadin and IgA anti-transglutaminase panels, as there may not be enough IgA for the assay to measure.

It would seem in your case further investigation is in order--what other blood tests have you had, and did that endoscopy go into the duodenum and small intestine to look for villious atrophy?

Yeah that's what I meant. I made a typo.

I have no idea, about the other blood tests. I've had a lot, I know ones checking enzymes and things like that. I only know the specifics of this certain test because I recently went to a specialist that posts everything online.

Yes the endoscopy went into my stomach and duodenum, but it was before my gallbladder surgery and I read that gallbladder surgery can cause a lot of problems that would be seen with an endoscopy.

I called my doctor about the test today and his nurse told me we would discuss it at my next appointment and that I was negative for celiac disease. when i brought up the possibility of a false negative due to a low Iga count she just repeated that we would talk about it at my next appointment.

Default what doc says...

This is an email from my doctor regarding the abnormal test:

"Your total IgA (Immunoglobulin) was a little low, it's indicative that your immune system isn't overly active. The other two values that are part of the Celiac panel were negative and those are the improtant ones to look for when trying to identify Celiac disease. We can discuss it further at your follow up as far as what it all means in regards to your symptoms. With these findings and also knowing you had a normal appearance of the small bowel tissue on EGD, it's very unlikely that you have Celiac disease"

Am I to understand that he didn't take biopsies???? You can not "see" early celiac disease on visual examination! you need biopsies and microscopic exam. geesh.
