The I.M.E. for the company I worked for, after finding out that I was not letting them close the case, declared, after an indepth session back and forth with me in a very rageful state about my symptoms and complaints that were ongoing and not subsiding over 1 1/2 years ago threatened to write the Professional Board which controlled my licensure, and the MVA (drivers license bureau) declaring me an impaired provider and driver.

I asked that we both sit down and compose the letters together, so as not to miss any important details...... this of course did not happen....nor did any reference in his report to the company about my "impairment" show up .

So much for "Independent" Medical Examiners .........lol.

Anyway, as said, My Neurologist said to take caution, do not drive unless absolutely necessary, and only very short term.........I have driven approximately 200 miles in the last 1 1/2 years. Compared to 5+ thousands per year in past years.

My GP advised me not to drive - so technically I should advise the government department that issues licences of my injury. The trouble is they have no means to verify the extend of my injury so they will err on the side of safety and suspend my licence.

Over here we have a strange rule - if you are incapable to drive for what ever reason (drink, drugs or injury) and you are involved in an accident caused by someone else - you carry a the blame not the other person since you shouldn't have been on the road and therefore the accident would;t have happened. The problem I can see is that, even if years after an TBI a smart lawyer could argue that you may still residual issues affecting your awareness or control.

So back to the original thread. Whilst driving if you stopped because the lights were a problem or pulled over by the Police for wearing sunglasses at night. Using the excuse of a head injury would land you in court

Arrghh! That's really a Catch-22 for those of you in the UK!

Meanwhile, it also shows me a greater 'conservative concern' on the part of the UK for perhaps all on the road --- vs. the prevalent American attitude of one's individual "Right to Drive", regardless --- rather than one's responsible licensed privilege. Tough call on which is perhaps the better national attitude.

I empathize with your situation re: driving responsibly.
I simply no longer drive any Interstate highway; and living where I do, the Colony's/small city's speed limits here by the Bay are 25, 35 --- and 40 mph max beyond the Colony/city limits, until one is clearly out into the rural/ farmland areas.

I no longer even attempt to drive Over the Bay "to the City"/greater metropolitan area ... a mere 23 miles distance all-in-all ... yet a 4-lane highway with 55 mph speeds (at which most drive @ 65-70 mph!) ... or otherwise on the Interstate Bayway with a 60 mph speed (lessened with fog, frequent these mornings of late) --- at which most will then drive @ 70 mph!!
No thanks --- not for me!

Not being an anarchist but the UK is one of the worlds worst country's for state control and surveillance and intrusion. Everything from the highest level of CCTV cameras in the world to being able to contact our ISP to see what sites we go to. The Police can also do a random stop and search of any vehicle / person on suspicion that you may have done something wrong.

Once he had a benefits system that was the envy of the world we will soon have a bedroom tax on the unemployed, sick and disabled. If you have an empty bedroom and you claim benefits you will loose 12% per room. If you have children separate bedrooms - this doesn't count as they can share up to the age of 11 even if they are boy/girl.

The bedroom tax is truly unbelievable. Wow.
Quite outrageously controlling of peoples' lives, home living situation, intrusive & punitive. So sorry that it is so!

Wow, I read this thread, probably a couple times, and I STILL got totally blinded by looking at our Christmas tree when I went to put one decoration on. Just one look and I was totally blinded with stabbing pain right through to my brain. The saddest part was that I was SO happy to be having a "good" day and it was gone in one split second with no warning.

I've pretty much cancelled Christmas but got talked into at least putting up the tree. Big mistake. It looks pretty with the lights off at least! They think I should be fine from further back and I say NO WAY do I want to test that theory! Do you guys have Christmas trees up?

Now to figure out how to get through the one party that I need to at least stop in at. I'm going to start a new thread for this topic tomorrow when my head and eyes are hopefully better.

From the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ontario:

The Highway Traffic Act requires that physicians report every individual 16 years of age or over attending upon the physician for medical services, who, in the opinion of the physician is suffering from a condition that may make it dangerous to operate a motor vehicle.

A report by a physician under the Highway Traffic Act will not automatically result in the suspension or downgrading of the patient’s licence. Upon receipt, the Ministry of Transportation will review information received in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and national medical standards.

Again 'off topic' here.
However, for me, it is inane Christmas music in the stores which is especially annoying!

I don't know if this year it is moreso especailly loud ( as it seems to be) .
Yet it is most certainly highly irritating to my senses.

Admittedly it's "my own brain" that "replays incessantly" over & over in my mind, *all day/night* whatever bit of tune that I've just departed from hearing in the store!! Arrrghhhh!
