I attended a Case Conference for a student in one of the Schools. I've really had some rough cases with the Principal before. I have never known till today if I've really been welcome by him.
As we were discussing the evaluation results. I had been trying to figure
out how to get the category the student had. To stay, it was a more
severe as you would say. But because Indiana has a very strict rule, and
this student is going to probably go off diploma track, he will need the
chance.
(He has had a really rough life) And reads at a 3rd grade if that level, and can't even do division, and they aren't sure he will be able to learn. So Algebra is not considered doable for sure.
So they wanted to put him in more accessible for him English and Math classes. And change Science and Social Studies. But the psychologist was
kind of making it were we might have a problem with this later. Not right
now. But in 9th and on grades. (Which is next year)
Any way the principal reminds everyone we have a student that extra curricular and sports means the world too. He will work for the right for.
So they really want this to work. So I made the statement, I agreed with
him. THat this student needed to stay with this title. That he really had
other things that made the label possible.
He says, Donna, I'm so glad you agree with me. Because you don't always
agree with me. It was a laughing matter.
(He made it very obvious we have butted heads,) And I've usually won.
I thought wow, I am appreciated. It really made me feel good.
And since this is a foster dad, he felt like his son is getting good care, and
service too.
This student starts extra curricular tomorrow.
I'm so happy. It made my day.
