Hi everyone!
Debbie - Glad the baby is home. How fun! When do you go back up there to see her?
I don't have many plans for the day today. I want to make some individual apple pies and that's pretty much my big plan for today.
I had a downer kind of afternoon yesterday. I got the results back from my DEXA scan and I have osteopenia. So, now I need to either supplement my calcium or make sure I get plenty in my diet. I also talked to the M.A. about my abnormal blood sugar. It wasn't a fasting test and I had just eaten a yogurt and apple before going in to get my blood work so it makes sense it was a little high, not by much. My ESR was high though but she said the dr. wasn't too concerned about it as all my other tests came back normal.
I don't like getting older. In the past year, I have been dx with several age related things. I feel too young to have this happen. Honestly, I feel like I am only in my 30's, not approaching 50. Most people think I am in my 30's as well. But my insides are saying something else. So to be told about the osteopenia really hit me hard. I have a colon of a 70 or 80-year old and a stomach to match. I walk like a 100-year old (I say that because my old neighbor was 91 and walked faster that me). I have trouble getting up from my seat, the toilet, and anything else low to the ground. The list of foods I can't tolerate is becoming a novel now. And, the mother of all, they started me on new medicines that has made me put weight on so fast!!!

I'm not sure if it is the lorazepam or Protonix or the combination of both of them. I have never had a weight issue before and since the weight came on over just a few short months and shortly after starting lorazepam and right after starting Protonix, I can only guess it's the meds. I'm not a happy camper about it at all.
So, yesterday was quite the day. I am approaching it as a wake up call - review my diet and find new foods to eat to round out my selections and hope I can tolerate them, finish tapering off lorazepam - the goal is by the end of the month to be completely off of them, figure out a way to get off of Protonix - I tried once and lasted 2 days

, and lastly, ask the dr. about doing some PT to get me started on a good exercise program.
Ok, that's my insight for the day. Sorry if it turned in to a little vent. I hope you all have a great day today!
