Hi Everyone!

Debbie - Congrats!!!!

Not doing too much today. Just resting after my "outing" yesterday. I got the tests done and now it's just waiting to see what the results are. I straightened up the house this morning and will be heading down for my nap as soon as I finish lunch. DD21 worked this morning and got home and went back to bed. I'll visit with her when she gets back up. Well, when both of us get back up.

We have a little French bakery right around the corner from us. Last evening DD21 and I went and got some bread to go with our soup and a Napolean to share. Oh my goodness!!! It was so good, both the bread and the Napolean. They had so many wonderful looking treats in there. Yummy!

I hope you all are having a great day!

Haddie came home yesterday-she sleeps constantly. Of course she's only 2 days old, and she was 2weeks early. My daughter is trying valiantly to nurse her, and it's gradually getting easier. But the baby likes to sleep more than eat

Her husband is a jewel-stayed with her in hospital & helps her constantly. She's truly blessed.

I remember my first baby. He slept so much at first.....so I worried. Then, when he stayed awake for longer periods of time I didn't know what to do with him! He was so tiny! It all worked out and I calmed down. But I remember those first few weeks. I think I called my Mom every day! Second baby.....I felt like an old pro.

Hi everyone!

Debbie - Glad the baby is home. How fun! When do you go back up there to see her?

I don't have many plans for the day today. I want to make some individual apple pies and that's pretty much my big plan for today.

I had a downer kind of afternoon yesterday. I got the results back from my DEXA scan and I have osteopenia. So, now I need to either supplement my calcium or make sure I get plenty in my diet. I also talked to the M.A. about my abnormal blood sugar. It wasn't a fasting test and I had just eaten a yogurt and apple before going in to get my blood work so it makes sense it was a little high, not by much. My ESR was high though but she said the dr. wasn't too concerned about it as all my other tests came back normal.

I don't like getting older. In the past year, I have been dx with several age related things. I feel too young to have this happen. Honestly, I feel like I am only in my 30's, not approaching 50. Most people think I am in my 30's as well. But my insides are saying something else. So to be told about the osteopenia really hit me hard. I have a colon of a 70 or 80-year old and a stomach to match. I walk like a 100-year old (I say that because my old neighbor was 91 and walked faster that me). I have trouble getting up from my seat, the toilet, and anything else low to the ground. The list of foods I can't tolerate is becoming a novel now. And, the mother of all, they started me on new medicines that has made me put weight on so fast!!! I'm not sure if it is the lorazepam or Protonix or the combination of both of them. I have never had a weight issue before and since the weight came on over just a few short months and shortly after starting lorazepam and right after starting Protonix, I can only guess it's the meds. I'm not a happy camper about it at all.

So, yesterday was quite the day. I am approaching it as a wake up call - review my diet and find new foods to eat to round out my selections and hope I can tolerate them, finish tapering off lorazepam - the goal is by the end of the month to be completely off of them, figure out a way to get off of Protonix - I tried once and lasted 2 days , and lastly, ask the dr. about doing some PT to get me started on a good exercise program.

Ok, that's my insight for the day. Sorry if it turned in to a little vent. I hope you all have a great day today!

YaHoo, it's Friday. The end of a hard week
and the beginning of a fun weekend.

..OH wait, I don't work anymore and my
kids are grown. I have MS, so I don't have
much fun either.

Just another day in the life of a recluse!!!

Y'all have a happy day.

Not much is going on here. I have made it to water aerobics three days this week so that is my accomplishment. It is kind of weird now that I am retired that I do not get excited about it being Friday. I don't have anything exciting planned for this weekend. It is supposed to be pretty cold tomorrow so I think I will just be hibernating.

Trish, I was dx with ostepenia about four/five years ago. My last scan (I think it was Fall 2011) did not show any major changes. They classified it at that time as moderate to severe. I think it was severe in one hip. They tried putting me on one of the meds (take once a month), but my tummy could not handle it. I think it was actonel. My gyno wanted me to get the yearly infusion. I can't remember the name. They always have commercials for it. But then there were studies coming out suggesting the longer you were on the meds the greater chance of having a break in your femur. My pcp agreed I should not take it at this point. So I try to get more calcium in my diet and take my vitamin d3 faithfully. I cannot handle the calcium supplements either. They just make me nauseated and more constipated than usual.

Debbie, great to hear she went home. I too had a son who wanted to sleep all the time, unlike his older sister. I would walk by the crib and shake him a little. After a while caught his sister doing the same. When he would wake up all he wanted want his diaper change, to be fed, then put back into the crib.

Hi Everyone!

Barb - Thanks! I seemed to remember that you had osteopenia as well and I'm glad you posted about it. I did read that the medication really isn't beneficial as some people have osteopenia that never develops in to osteoporosis.

I'm not doing too much this morning. My allergies are really bugging me this morning so I'm being kind of mellow. My niece is coming over this afternoon for some craft time with me. I'm not sure what the craft will be but I'll wait until she gets here and let her decide what she wants to do.

I hope you all have a great day today!

Made brownies, did some laundry, and reading. Going to see a movie tomorrow. Monday I have to have blooodwork to check my iron levels. Then I have an appointment with the hematologist on Wednesday. I hope I do not need another iron infusiuon yet.

Trish, I wished I lived close to my niece so I could see her more often. She wants me to move to Austin, but I just don't think I could handle the heat or all of the stress that comes with living in a big metropolitan area.

Hi Everyone!

I had a great time with my little niece yesterday. She decided she wanted to paint and I had a small canvas for her to use. She traced and painted a monogram design I found online. It came out really nice and she did a great job on it. She didn't finish it all and decided to leave it here so she can come back and work on it again.

Today I am going to my mom's to visit with her as well as my sister and family that is visiting. It is supposed to be in the mid 70's or higher today so it should be a beautiful, if not slightly warm, day.

Have a great day!
