Now my dad is sick.

Thank you every one. I'm in a lot of grief. I've been thinking about how he supported me,and sent me to doctors. He didn't know what was wrong with me,but he knew that I had many emotional problems. He had a stroke about 13 years ago,and then my sister started to help me. Now she's in a hospital because of MS,and about to go to a nursing home for physical therapy. BF

my heart is heavy for you. you have been on my mind all day.

i hope your sister will have a good recovery in the nursing home. it is probably good that she will continue to have wrap around care during her convalescence. i am going to think positive for her. know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

It was so very sad watching him struggling to breath while he was in a coma,in the last hours of his life.

I tried to call my counselor today,but they where closed because it's Presidents Day. I don't know what to do. BF

Steve I am so, so sorry that your dad went to heaven. As someone else has said, he is in a better place, but I know you & your family will miss him.

"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

I pray that God be near to you now more than ever, and that you can feel His love & presence.

Meanwhile... can you cry? read Psalms? Pray? ... it doesn't matter if you just ramble, just open a channel you know... God already knows your suffering.

There is a prayer for (all of) the dead which is also offered, in Catholic tradition, when a person passes away. I have offered it for your father. I will do again, also. I learned it in another language and it is beautiful in that language... it imparts a sense of peace. Here it is in English, if you want to try it:

Eternal Rest grant unto them, o Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon them;
May they rest in peace.
Amen.

I feel better. My brother in law who is a doctor said that there is a nickname for pneumonia. He said it's called,"The old mans friend". If a old person is suffering,pneumonia may take them out of their misery.

Dad had been mumbling for a while now,and he didn't seem to know what was being said. He seemed like he couldn't hear very well. This is what my brother in law said. I noticed that dad couldn't remember things last Sunday,8 days ago.

They put him on morphine yesterday. I didn't know this,but it helps dying people to breath. They also put him on Ativan. So he may not have been suffering. I prayed for him. A pastor connected to the nursing home was going to come to see him also, I was told by one of the administrators of the nursing home. BF

I am so glad your brother-in-law spoke gave you this new information about your dad's condition, and regarding his medication. It does not take away the loss and grief, but it is a relief to know he was not suffering the way you thought. And it is good to know that a pastor went in to see him, too.
