Very good point, mrsD. Some of the episodes were longer.

Season 4 doesn't begin in the US until January 2014. I'm going to have to watch Season 3 again as a refresher.

Comcast is having free Streampix Infinity this week (this is without the usual charge for each month's use they typically do).

So I am catching up on the First Season and the first part of
Season 2, I missed when I "discovered" Downton.

Things make much more sense to me now!
I really like the style of the Season 1... now it appears that
things are going to be more emotionally embroiling as the series
continues. I thought the Fox Hunt was very well done, I enjoyed that (since there was no obvious animal cruelty). I did find a link to a discussion of Downton:

There are no spoiler alerts there, so if you haven't seen all of the shows, you won't want to read that link.

Just wondering, is it possible for a show to make you clinically depressed? And if so, what are the chances I can submit my therapy bills directly to Julian Fellowes for reimbursement?

I thought Meredith Blakes review was hilarious!!! And the comments...people really feel strongly one way or the other.

I saw that article.... I have to say...the last episode of
Season 3 was disturbing. In fact I find myself quite emotional, watching these earlier episodes now, too.

Julian should be careful he doesn't alienate his viewers! It happens now with novels, and Eliz George really got into trouble by killing off a very loving and popular character for "no reason"... her fans deserted her, and she had to close her website which was very popular at the time. Her books have not recovered in fact from that event! (her Lyndley/Havers series)

Matthew had to leave the show, it was the actor's choice. But it was Julian's choice in how it would unfold.

I am wondering if Season 4 will succeed... as much as the others have.
