Default medication

I am taking effexor 37.5 mg twice a day for my depression. I think it is making me more depressed? Has anyone had this issue? I know I should talk to my dr about it, and I will. I have only been on it about three weeks. Just wondering.

Absolutely report this to the physician who wrote the script asap. I am assuming it is a psychiatrist but I know many pain and primary docs do too. I have a paradoxical response to most antidepressants. The ones that don't increase the depressive symptoms seem to have other side effects. My depression is intermittant and secondary to major pain issues. I have learned to accept that a certain amount of depression is to be expected with never ending pain. Best wishes and let us know how you are doing.

Yes, tell your doctor. Certain people get more depressed on anti-depression medications. This does happen. Neurontin made me depressed even more than what I was. I tried several before I found one that helped me. Keep in touch, and do report it to your PCP. ginnie

NOt sure the gabapentin (neurontin) is a good idea to continue. Chronic pain itself caused depression and anything adding to it can be quite serious. Have you told your doctor about the depression and anxiety. Your doctor might want to prescribe something different.
