Default Great Local Organization for PD

I thought some of you might be interested in this group, PD Active, in which I've participated for several years. It's been a god-send for me. Wish all with PD could be involved in something similar. Wonderful people & wonderful activities. I've participated in dance, yoga, chorus, PD Forum, and many other activities we sponsor. Take a look at the Programs section and the calendar & newsletter. If you're in our area, please join us. Here's a brief description from our website:

http://pdactive.wordpress.com/about/

PD Active is a group of Berkeley/Oakland-based people impacted by Parkinson’s disease who act to build and strengthen our local community through advocacy, dance classes and other activities. We believe that we are our own best advocates and that acting on our own behalf fosters independence, dignity and respect, while preventing isolation and depression.
PD Active began in late 2007, following an energizing dance class for people with Parkinson’s sponsored by the Mark Morris Dance Group. We obtained 501(c) 3 federally exempt non-profit status in January of 2009.

Default Dance for PD

Sounds like a wonderful group Peony. If only I lived closer! I do attend a Mark Morris trained Dance for PD class every week and love it.

Brian, great! Looking forward to meeting you. I'll be singing in our Tremolos chorus, which I coordinate. Should be a good meeting. You can see more info about it in our newsletter, which is linked at this PD Active website: http://pdactive.wordpress.com/calendar/

Hope to see others there from the SF Bay Area.

Peony, I'm guessing you know Patty N. - she's a good friend of ours and is also involved in Sunday's celebration and skits. See you there!

Wish you-all were near us..our group needs dance and other activities and I don't know how to get us started. I love dance...especially to celtic music. I go to Contra (which is like square dance in a line mostly) whenever I can. Also enjoy music jams...I play mostly lap dulcimer and mandolyn. Just made a bear to be my strummer for my right hand...he is precious and makes people laugh....which is always a good thing!

dulcimer and mandolyn... oh my. Sounds from the time of Shakespeare.
Video please! Record, and then find a teenager to edit and post it on You Tube.
