For men who have prostatitis doxycycline is useful. Many prostatitis patients have mostly inflammation and this antibiotic will help that too.

It will work for females, but carries a yeast potential side effect.

I see, so not really a med to take for UTI? I take D mannose daily so I won't get a UTI but at some point I will have one or infection of some kind. The tried and true Duricef I have been able to take for everything seems to have started to affect me. Itchy hands...A shame. It has been good for a long time.

Do you see any med here I can use with less danger in case of a UTI in the future? Duricef was fine, but now I seem to react with pain/itching in my hands with it. A pity since it was good for years.

I think your choices are slim.

I'd go for the doxycycline.

The question is why are you getting repeats of this infection?

I got them for several years until I saw a urologist. He found out I had a few tiny polyps. He took care of that, then all was much better. I would then get them rarely. Duricef was nice. An oldie, worked great. Not awful like the new ones that are so strong.

I take DMannose and cranberry pills daily now so I will hopefully not get another. My doctor said some women get them no matter what they do. So far the Dmannose works for me.

I just want ideas in case that happens or other problems like an ear infection etc. At some point we all get infections.
