Chronic pain in the roof of the mouth for 1 1/2 years- no idea what to do

Hi. Usually I post in Traumatic Brain Injury.

I've had post-concussion syndrom for over two years, and it was mostly head pain for the first 6 months.

After accidentally bumping a front tooth with a thick glass, I had it checked out by a dentist due to the chronic pain.

He said I didn't need a root canal thankfully- that could've caused even more problems.

Instead I play the waiting game. It feels like a spike is lodged in the roof of my mouth. If bad enough, the pain reaches the head.

It this nerve pain? Is there a cure? Neuro Cranial Reconstruction & Biofeedback are a few of the alternative treatments I haven't tried yet. Accupuncture, chiro, Bowen Therapy, vitamins, etc. didn't seem to do much.

Hi Jeffrey,

There could be a fracture in that tooth and/or in the buccal or lingual plate (these are the bone areas in front and behind your tooth) that was not picked up on the dental x-ray which could give you sharp pain in your palate. Perhaps a different type of xray called a panoramic xray or a dental CT scan would be helpful. I would consult with an oral surgeon to evaluate this tooth and your pain... that is the type of dentist who would do either or both of these scans.

Thanks very much for the response. I'll mention that to the dentist (thank God I have one). Any lead to fixing this is amazing. It is amazing I've managed to fall asleep at night hese past two years.

And that I haven't cracked from holding back pain w/o meds most of this time.
