Question psychosis with major depression

Hi
I have been diagnosed with psychosis with major depression I am 43 yrs old,

I was set to go into a (php) program at a psychiatric hospital, and put on welfare watch, but Blue Cross is making me wait due to it being a pre-existing condition.

My psychologist doesnt think I have schizophrenia but psychosis with major depression

Is it correct to think of schizophrenia as chronic psychosis. In other words, if you have one psychotic episode, a label that could be applied is "psychosis". If you have repeated psychotic episodes, a label that could be applied is "schizophrenia?

any feedback would be helpful.
from your personal experiences,

thank you,

frank

Hi Frank and welcome

I would also like to suggest our other community PsychCentral, as it deals more specifically with mental health, where we are more neurology oriented.

We do have schizophrenia and depression forums here, but they are not nearly as active as those at PC

here is the link to PC (you will need to re-register even though we are linked.)
http://forums.psychcentral.com/

hope you find the answers you seek as well as much support and understanding
