That's interesting. It ties in with something I saw on tv here last night called "The Hidden Face of Fear" which was excellent. It included information about changes in the receptors in the amygdala in the brain and how that affects our memory and our future response to fearful situations. Really worth seeing if you ever get it on tv there.

I am new to this. Lara, I saw some of that TV show last night and thought it as the most interesting show I had seen on anxiety and PTSD. I could not watch all of it because I had to go out, but I intend to watch it all online.

I am new to the PTSD thread.

Just looking for information and support.

I was diagnosed July 9th of this year. At first I was like...ya right.
My family think only the military gets this.

Soon after panic attacks came on....I was like ok maybe right.

I have trigger attacks that associate around my workplace. I was violently assaulted there during my shift. I told my boss of this diagnosis and she's skeptical of it and gave me this ignorant look.

I've had 7 attacks of anxiety so far. One during a nightmare. The others were from work meetings (I had to go there) work phone calls etc.

Will I ever be able to return to work again?

It amazes me that so many think that PTSD is confined to war vets. My daughter was a paternal incest survivor. It has taken almost 30 years, but I now truely see her as an overcomer. She has a great psychiatrist she can call on as needed which happens once or twice a year. Hang in there. Best wishes.

The brain injury clinic called me today they are trying to gather some funding for me to participate in psychotherapy. I'm really surprised how long everything takes

Hello Kelly and welcome to NeuroTalk.

It can take time for the nightmares, anxiety and panic attacks to diminish but with the help of Psychotherapy it can get better. Once you have PTSD you will always have it. New coping skills will allow you to have more control over your triggers.
