Hey all....happy Saturday

Ginnie, DH called and found out the doc has to write an order, and has to state that they are in last 6 months...how does someone know?
Anyway, she agreed to do it...and has been recommending it for some time, actually.
The only problem is my inlaws are very close-to-the-vest kind of people...and don't really like intruders butting in. But we need some guidance as to how these meds are affecting them and how to counsel them as they decline.

It's nice to have weekends, isn't it? I think they should be 4 days long

Default Hi Debbie

The DH doesn't really know, however an intune doctor can kind of tell about decline. I absolutely loved the council I got and working with hospice. They were there with me though the decline of both my parents. I could not have hoped for better. Only thing I didn't like is I thought my dad should have had more pain control than what he got. I think they are even better today in understanding a person that is aging. I do wish you all the best, and send love to your family. ginnie

I made hotel reservations (condo really)yesterday to go to Myrtle Beach in September. I am taking my mom with me. My older sister, one of my older brothers, and some of their family plus family friends go every September. I have always wanted to go but have been teaching. My mom is really excited as she has not gone for a few years. I am also planning on spending some time in Austin, TX in late October/early November, and I am going with friends to Hawaii next year during Easter week. They have a free timeshare.

So my goal is to now lose some weight and try to exercise some over the next several months. My hand weights are staring at me. Plus I am going to order one of those cycling machines that you can sit in a chair and do. My pcp has been suggesting I get one for years. The ones that self propelled (cycled) are only a little over $100.00. She thinks it will help my knees.

I am also planning on humiliating myself by going to the public pool if it ever warms up enough. I am trying to decide whether or not I should join the Y. We do not have one in town so I would have to drive to the next town over. the pool at the University is hard to get to and much too cold. I am interested in their water aerobics classes and thai chi. I would need a bar or chair to hold onto to do the thaii chi.

Wow, Barb, you are really motivated! Good for you! We'll be your cheerleaders. Now where did I put my pom-poms?

My current project is book-sorting. I have books on my desk shelves, books on the living room shelves, books in two other rooms, and some second-string books in the basement. I can't decide which ones I want where, or how to sort them--by favorites, by topic, by frequency of use, by sentimental value, by already read vs unread. And of course, I get started sorting and first thing you know, I'm sitting there reading!

We're just getting started on a spell of cool, rainy weather. It might not reach 70 again for almost a week, and tomorrow they're saying it won't get out of the 50's. A lot of disappointed people who had outdoor plans, including school trips, etc., but I'd rather have this than a heat wave any day!

We're expecting rain here, too, and it's already clouded up outside after being real sunny this morning.

I was feeding my outside feral kitties last night and Kit Cat, the tortie, decided it would be fun to jump through my legs and dart into the house! My inside kitties have never formally "met" any of the outside kitties.....and I was scared of what might happen. I ran inside - well, running for me is sort of a hobble/wobble/shuffle - but I was able to turn her around and lead her back out the door. Whew! I've got to be more careful when I'm out there.

I'm due for a nap today. My indoor kitties decided it was time to get up at 7 AM and it's catching up with me. Since they are all flaked out on the guest room bed taking one of their naps I think I'll do the same!

Well, I had a hollering nightmare last night--I have nightmares a lot, but it's been a while since I hollered for help in my sleep! I don't know if it's the new med, something on the news, or just random. And nobody helped me!

Haven't got dressed yet (any minute now) but I did make a double batch of biscuits. We call them "bean can biscuits", because I use a can that green beans came in to cut them. Actually, I have three cans (with a smooth edge). The bean can, the Progresso soup can, and the peach can (the large size). I use different sizes depending on whether the biscuits will be for chicken gravy, shortcake, egg/cheese sandwiches, or whatever. A recipe I found in a National Grange cookbook back in 1979, that calls for eggs and real butter. Mmmm.

I just told my husband that I already crossed two things off my list! He said, "Good for you!" I don't think I'll tell him that I'd written "make biscuits" on my list twice.

I got up this morning with the pigeons, I would say chickens but I live in the city. I was 1/2 hour early for work. This is week 2 and I have not been late yet. It makes me feel better, but tires me out sooner. I'm just happy to be alive. I'm not going to focus on anything negative today no matter what. If I find myself heading in that direction I'm just going to stop what I am doing and sing. Tomorrow, I might even try to go back to choir rehersal! I haven't been since the week before Easter. I's Feel Like Singin.

I REALLY like your philosophy, Sah...when you start heading toward negative, stop what you're doing and sing. I love it!!
