Hello there. good to meet you.
you pose a very good question. many people do get diagnosed as purely depressed, whereas in fact they are bipolar. This typically happens if the "high" phases are not reported or not recognized.
on the other hand, a person who is has frequent or severe depressions experiences a huge difference in mood when they recover fully, to a state of euthyima (normal feeling of wellbeing). The difference between the two can be enough to cause one to wonder if one having bipolar symptoms.
Would you like to share some of the experiences which suggest to you that you might be bipolar? maybe some examples? this would help us to think this through with you.
meanwhile i will ask a couple of specific questions too:
do you fluctuate in mood a lot? how frequently?
IF you notice fluctuations, is because something has happened (good or bad it doesn't matter), or does it seem to happen out of the blue?
