Default The Mouse Trap - dangers of testing on fat lazy mice

Part 1
The Mouse Trap
The dangers of using one lab animal to study every disease.
By Daniel Engber
SLATE Magazine

…”Mattson is not the only one with doubts, nibbling away at the corner of his cage. The rise of the factory mouse has implications that extend far beyond his work on Parkinson's disease….”

(Near the end, you can click to get all 3 parts of this series, but words only, no graphics. I hope you can get to this article without having to pay or join or whatever)
it is long to read and not of interest to everyone.. but I liked it because it covers a whole are of thought about medical research, that I had never thought of before.

Default and instead of the knockout mouse........look whats emerging.....

"the variety of organisms studied is currently undergoing a massive expansion."

Among the emerging models profiled on the site are the wallaby and the wasp, the quail and the snail, the yam and the snapdragon.

Its like something from Lear.......
Thanks Bob, your posts are always interesting......
