Shocked SPIDER in my Dr. Scholls's insert pkg!

I bought some new shoes to help me walk last week.

GravityDefyers... that is another story. Let's just say they need some customizing.

So I thought to remove the poor inserts and put in a good Dr. Scholl's gel insert. I went to WalMart today, and picked a heavy duty one... and just took it out of the bag.

I was going to open it up when I saw this movement! eeeekkkk....

A little black spider, was running around inside the hard plastic
packaging. Now there is an open hole on the back side so you can test the heel gel stuff... and maybe he got in there that way?
Or maybe he is a poisonous spider from China? I put the whole thing on the outside porch to see if he escapes. If not tomorrow I will return it and I have to say a spider in a package like this is not my usual experience!

He is about 5 mm long and 4mm wide.. big enough to see, all black and very fast...scurrying around in fact. And doesn't look like a web builder. But I am not going any farther than that with it.

I am going to send Dr. Scholl's an email, as I think the hole could be covered with thin plastic and sealed and still be testable by the consumer.

Who knows what this spider is? venomous or not? etc?

The EEEKKKK factor is still with me.... sigh.

eeeww..

We bought cookies at a little rural back roads store and got down the road before opening them to find little cobwebs!! We were just passing thru the area and didn't want to backtrack so tossed them in the next garbage can we came to.

They should check all the packages of these inserts for bugs.....it could be an infestation. I wonder if anybody else has found a spider in theirs?

I just called Merck, who now owns Dr. Scholl's. (this used to be a Schering company).

The gal at customer service took my info and said if WalMart doesn't take it back tomorrow, to call her back and they will replace it. I am pretty sure that WalMart will be no problem.

But you know the package has an open hole to squeeze the gel and test it. I think this should be covered with thin plastic for safety...germs and bug wise. With all the bed bug epidemics, it could be anything in there.

She said to not open the package in case there are other things I cannot see in there.

But I asked her to report this to quality control, as the open hole really is not good these days for consumer safety or confidence.

I'm leaving in on our outside protected porch for the night in fact because I can't have it in the house.... eeeekkkk eeeekkk.

It could be from that particular store only, or from the large box the shipment box came in or the factory where produced...

That is just it... it could be from anywhere. But really having that open hole, is an invitation for something to crawl in there.

He is a fast little devil... running around. He is sticking to the long edges, and not going near the opening at all. So I guess I will be going back to WalMart tomorrow.

Put scotch tape over that hole so that they can see the spider when you return it. JMO

Red face

I want him alive in there... running around like we are watching.

This has a much bigger impact than a dead spider.

If he escapes...then I'd call it Spider Karma!

Maybe put the whole package in a ziplock baggy???

That way if the spidey does come out of the package then he's still in the baggy.

Just a thought...
