Default Hypnotherapy?

Hello there,
Does Hypnotherapy actually work? Anyone ever tried it? I'm searching for a cure!
Anything helps,
Adriana

I certainly don't think hypnotherapy is a cure, but it can be another "tool in the toolbox" in helping to cope with this condition.

I have heard of a couple of people trying it with mixed results. If you are serious though, I'd be sure to ask them if they have any experience with CRPS or at least chronic pain. Don't want to get the guy that makes you sing like Elvis Presley or act like a chicken when you hear the word APPLE

The mystery of the way pain works in the body is a little different with every one of us as is the ability to manage it in different non-conventional ways like meditation, hypnosis, etc.

I like to keep a very open mind and am open to trying most any (non-invasive) techniques to help me get through the day.............

Here is a link from the University of Minnesota which has some pretty good information on some things that might be helpful. Click on the link, then look down at the bottom where it says "healing practices A-Z" and explore some options, some of which I use daily.

I haven't even heard of this treatment for RSD but if I had the option and I knew I wasn't going to be mentally rewired I would try it. just the thought of some one messing around with my subconscious it gives me the willies.ewwww. but if I was confident my thoughts were safe than yeah definitely. sorry probably didn't help but I thought you might like to hear what others think on this issue. good luck to you and if you opt to do it let us know how it worked.

I went through several sessions many years ago. It was a few years post RSD onset, and I was not not properly medicated at that point. I was guarding my upper extremity any time I was in public and causing more damage to my neck and back as a result. It didn't decrease my baseline pain, but it helped me cope much better and that in turn helped so that I didn't exacerbate things. I also learned to breath deeply as a coping strategy to relax which I still do unconsciously, btw. Meditation is another helpful tool IMO.

Will this provide a cure? Probably not. But, I'm very happy that I retain coping strategies many years later that I can call on as needed. Stacking treatments is something to try as well, if you're able...

Heck, if it's legal I'd try just about anything to help with pain.

I looked into trying to find a hypotist or psychitrist/psychologist who worked with hypnosis on pain patients a few years ago, but could not find anyone in my area doing that type of therapy.

Good luck in your search. Let us now if you find a clinician and if you see any improvement !
