I found this......
Quote:
For those of you who have followed Emma the hummingbird, there is some really groundbreaking stuff going on there now.
Recently I reported that Emma was constructing her nest on the outdoor chandelier again. She has since laid and is incubating 2 eggs. In the meantime, someone nearby, who was having trees trimmed, found that they had accidentally cut down a branch that had a hummingbird nest attached, containing two very new chicks. No mother hummer came back, so bird rescue was called. The chicks were very young and their digestive tracts too immature to be hand fed. They had no chance at survival without feedings from a mother bird. Since Emma had adopted another hummer before, they decided to give the orphans a chance with Emma, even though she is presently caring for her own two eggs.

While Emma was out of the nest, another empty nest was put up right next to Emma's nest to see how she would react. No problem, so awhile later the chicks were introduced to the extra nest while she was out. When she returned, she first checked them out and then started feeding them!!!
This can be watched on video here:

I remember that! Dang, how many years ago was that? 9 or 10?

Tell me Robin, are the people who work at that company still all unpaid volunteers?

We don't get hummingbirds in Australia so I went to look at the live feed, but the video wasn't working .... the screen was all black .......

Then I remembered if I was awake then it was night time where the little birdie lives. Der! What a dill!

Maybe I'll be able to check it out when I first wake up tomorrow....when it's daylight.

I checked out the video and it worked for me. She was so cute......getting situated on her nest . I think it might have been a pre-recorded segment, though, because it showed her laying one of her eggs and I think that happened weeks ago. In any event, it was exciting to watch such an up close video of such a beautiful bird.

Kitty I'm sure the video was working just fine. The problem was with ME!
It was the middle of the night when I looked and wondered why the screen was black!
I can see her now that it's daylight.

Don't worry, Anne! I would have done exactly the same!

I remember Sparky! Welcome. I don't talk as much here anymore. I have too little energy these days, but I lurk. I was amazed to see the bubbling brain and sorry to hear of your plight.
