Arrow NeuroTalk Members' Enterprises: Discussion Thread

Hi

This thread is where members of NeuroTalk Communities can link to and chat about their own business and other enterprises.

If this thread gets a lot of activity, we will create a sub-forum for NT BizTalk

Whether it is your eBay store or auctions through to whether you do crafts for charities...whatever our enterprising members would like to showcase and discuss here is welcomed.

NeuroTalk members are welcome to add links to their business or enterprise on this thread.

Cheri

PLEASE NOTE: Any attempts at spamming this thread will be strictly moderated. This is NOT the place to post affiliate links or MLM recruiting ads etc. nor links for advertising cellphones and other such stuff! This thread is ONLY for contributing NeuroTalk Community Members to discuss their business and other enterprises

Looking forward to seeing what you do Kay

I do antiques & collectibles, primarily Deco glass, vanity sets, decoratives etc
I have an eBay store as well as a couple of my own websites for it.
Started as a collector and then ran out of room LOL
So now I get to collect them till someone else buys them and makes room for something else

I see this thread offering tips, if you will, regarding income and how it would affect SSDI to where to get the cheapest domain name. The possibilites are endless.

I have a lower motor neuron disease and I started making jewelry because I was bored silly not working. I've been on SSDI since I became ill, about 11 years, and I'm thankful for the monthly check but I'm on a real tight budget. I have made some extra cash selling my jewelry in local shops and jewelry parties. My daughter markets my jewelry and hers as I am house bound and it would be impossible for me to get out and show my goods if I didn't have her. Our styles are entirely different; she is classy and detail oriented and I'm trendy and commercial so it works out well for us, we are not competing. I have a store on Etsy.com where they only allow handmade items. The categories include photographyand paintings to candles and soaps, it has to be handmade. They do have an antique category but I have not checked it out. The website is free, the only cost is $ .20 to list an item. It's like having a website for free and I'm sure there must be other venues available to us if we network and share our knowledge.

I am excited about this thread although I think it will be a nightmare to organize and administer. I don't think there should be self promotion allowed unless it's through a pm. Who knows what's available to us. So etsy.com is my first contribution and I hope some of you can use it.

Susan

Hi Susan

yes, etsy.com is an excellent venue...I have a friend who also does jewelry there
you are welcome to show a link to your etsy store here on this thread so that other members can see what you do

What we dont want is for people to join simply to use this area to sell. That will be strictly moderated. But it is fine for members to include a link to their enterprise once, PROVIDED it isnt affiliate linking or multi level marketing recruitment

A reminder for those who may not yet have seen this section of our community...this thread is designed for members who have their own enterprise or business or cause...something that you do to make your own living or to make some extra or also what you may do to help to further a cause....etc.

The idea here is to see some good discussions on what it takes to operate these, and also related to the limitations that many here have in finding regular employment because of health issues etc

I know when I started out as a real newbie on ebay, after my husband got ill and couldnt run his biz anymore, I had to learn REAL quick on what it took to launch a business, never mind everything else related to cybersales, designing a customer friendly website, and basic business economics 101 and in the beginning I made a ton of mistakes

but I joined a couple of good online forums related to my business learned from others who so kindly share their ups and downs in the biz and now almost 7 years later, my husband and I work together, are able to do ok on what we make and have fun doing it...all from home and so much easier on his health, and enabling me to also be the full time caregiver for him and my son, who has Crohn's Disease and Tourette Syndrome, while also contributing to our income

It will also be great to see just what amazing talents and ingenuity our members have shown in finding ways to make a livelihood, or get some extra $$ part time or even just for fun money.......... and of course this is also a good place to talk of the many great causes that so many of our members support with either their time or talents etc

Very interesting thread. Hoping to find some links at a time soon.

My son makes key chains and bracelets from beads but at the present
he has slowed his making down. And he doesn't sell them right now,
but gives them away.

But this is always neat to see others things.

WOW, this is so beautiful, from my experience as well as many of yours, you find yourself doing all that is said to do, to not give up, not let nothing stop you, to GO FORWARD..... and for many of us in the world to find a purpose after paralysis don't always achieve this victory. I find this forum to be the best for appreciating the victories of those with SCI. I did experience one online community, very well known for it's purpose to help people with SCI consider my promoting my CD as a violation of it's terms. I respect the no SPAM law but I felt as a community online forum for people with SCI, you would know my audience and my music is also SCI.

We who are SCI who overcome depression and suicidal thoughts and find hobby or activity that may help us pay bills, pay for supplies we need everyday, help pay for equipment our insurance wont, and share this with others who may be interested in our products, need something like this because we already have a huge obstacle with society not looking at us as people who sit all day with no dreams

GOD BLESS this forum, it's the best
