Default displaying animation on webpages

Recently upgraded to IE7. This may be unrelated, but I'm not getting any animation from animated avatars. My brain is no longer bubbling!

Played around with Advanced Internet Options, and finally got TheWeatherChannel's radar to display in motion (I'm a TWC junkie). I say the avatar thing may be unrelated because I lost TWC's motion long before I got the IE7.

Whoever tries to explain the fix to me, please have mercy, cuz I'm computer-challenged.

Well I haven't touched IE7 so unfortunately I can't help you out here.

Can you try using a different browser like firefox or netscape or opera? If you see the animations then it's an IE thing most likely.

Let's pretend I still have IE6. What settings in the *Advanced* section of Internet Options affect viewing motion of images? I would think "display animations in webpages" would do it, but apparently something is counteracting that.

Some animations are dependant upon javascript being enabled. Some need java enabled.

You've already checked the other box "display animations in webpages" so technically you should be good to go.

Can you provide an example or two of sites where you can't see the animations?

The avatars here and on MSWorld has stopped moving.

My Java choices are:
  • Java console enabled
  • Java logging enabled
Neither are checked. I don't know what Java is, so didn't realize it had anything to do with animation. Hey, I warned ya, I'm computer-challenged.
