Red face Jaundice AGAIN

Prior to the doctor telling me I was jaundice when I was diagnosed last summer, the first time I heard the term Jaundice was when my mother told me I was in the hospital for three days at birth for Jaundice. I just find that soooo strange. Got my latest blood tests back today, liver ensymes are good, but Bilirubin is up .5. Trudging on.............KSLady

My husband's bilirubin was 6.7 at one point and of course he was jaundice and admitted to the hospital. Diagnosed at the time by a liver biopsy to be caused by chemo treatment for Chronic leukemia..drug toxicity. He recouped from the poisioning and the leukemia is still in remission but even though all his liver enzymes and bilirubin went back to normal levels within six weeks of hospitalization, eleven months later and taking no drugs or treatment his liver and spleen are enlarged and his liver enzymes are elevated again. Bilirubin is 1.5 but ast and alt are up there in the 200's. He is distended with fluid and has been on lasix and spirolactane. Shingles came along about the same time as the liver uproar and I read an article about Autoimmune hep caused by a bout of the chicken poxs..same virus that causes the shingles to flare. Any knowledge of such a connection in your reading or experience? These diseases can be so complex that it seems often if we can help a doctor make some connection that is not typical or obvious, maybe we can help someone else to experience a few less problems. Take care and thanks!
