Default Newbie here

Hello

I am new to this site & hope that I am in the right area.

Since May I have been slowly going downhill. I have had 1 xray & 2 mri's. My latest tentative diagnosis is that I have cervical nerve damage, but the neurosurgeon is sending me for a second opinion. I am utterly flustered. I am in constant pain or really doped up. It hurts to be up out of bed....let alone on this computer. As for my job...my boss is getting kinda upset that I haven't been able to go back yet....at this point I don't even know if I'll be able to ever. I was a CNA.

I'm just looking for some support any helpful ideas to give these docs a big kick in the booty to do something!!!

Thanks!

Could you give us your symptoms?
Someone may be of more help knowing everything.

Can't see why a NS would want a 2nd opinion. Unless he is new or not good!

I also have cervical spine issues. So I know your pain.

Ooops.

I have constant neck pain, headaches, pain that radiates down my right arm, whenever I am not laying down the muscles spasm across the top of my shoulder & lower back, numbness & tingling in my hands & from my chin down my chest that comes & goes.

I am suspecting that my ns is young, she looks it. Unfortunately I live in the midst of nowhere, and she was the closest to me.

I hope that this made sense as I am feelin the pain meds now.

Thanks!

I use Gabapentin for the nerve pain in my arms and hands.
Your regular doctor could prescribe it for you.
There are other options as well, one is Lyrica

If you can, you should research as much as you can so that you can make informed decisions regarding your own health.

Try to google such words as:

Radiculopathy
Neuropathy
cervical spine
cervical spine surgery
etc.

So sorry to hear of your frustration with your docs. I think we all have gone through the same thing sometime during our illness.

I don't have diagnosed neck problems...get a stiff neck when I'm at the computer too long. Most all of my problems are with my lower back so I can't say I understand what your going through. Dealing with pain is a horrible thing. Your quality of life goes out the window. Your either drugged up and none functional or non drugged and none fuctional. Can't win for loosing.

I use Gabapentin as well. Lower doses during the day and more in the evening. It does...she if you can suggest it to your doc...

You have been given some great advise...hope you can have some relief soon. My prayers are with you.
