My Mood:
Question Hi All - SSD and Prescrips ?

I normally hang out over at the RSD forum but have a SSD question and hope someone here can help. I will have been on full SSD for a year this June coming. I currently have my own insurance but come June I will lose my personal insurance and will than be offered Mass Health and whatever else I qualify for (Medicare, Medicaid, etc).

My question is this. I currently take about 12 different rather expensive drugs per day. There are no alternatives or generics for these. Will SSI pickup my prescrips on the new insurance or am I going to have to be completely reevaluated for something different? Has anyone gone through this before?

For those who don't know Mass Health is Massachusetts excuse for health insurance, but I was told that they don't cover the perscriptions portion. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Chin Up! Mark

Hey Mark,

I don't know about SSD--Medicare or Mass Health but wanted to let you know that just in case you are not able to get help through those for you medicines...

... on the medications forum: http://http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum72.html

I have posted links to a few of the pharmaceutical companies patient assistant programs who may be able to help you get your medicines.

Hopefully someone will be along shortly who can answer your question.

Best wishes,
Abbie

If you can get on Medicare than you will also qualify for Medicare part D which will cover perscriptions. You may want to upgrade to a plan which will allow the extra cost of the brand name drugs.
