Frown cellcept side effects

I have been taking cellcept for about a year now, and have just had it increased to 2 morning and 2 night.

After having been to hospital yesterday to have an IVIG, but it was cancelled as I had a temp of 38.3, I went to see my GP to find out what the infection was. (he couldn't work out what it was so put me on some general anti-biotics)

I gave him all my symptoms, including blurry(not double) vision and wierd vision, best described as pixelated spots in my eyes, and I was not able to see in my peripheral vision. He said cellcept causes vision problems also tiredness.

I was wondering if anyone has had these problems with cellcept, and any others, that I may have but cant think of at the moment

thanks

Hi -
I have been on CellCept for about a year. I take 3 grams a day (3 tablets in the morning, 3 at night.) I have always had trouble with my vision so the changes with CellCept were subtle. I think I have blurry vision more often and I often "see stars" or sparkling lights when I look up from my desk or from a book. I have frequent infections (guess that is to be expected since it is perventing us from producing white cells) - have had sores in my mouth, nose and on my feet. It has had a severe impact on my appetite. I am never hungry but it doesn't make me sick to my stomach - just took my appetite away. I actually prefer it to Imuran as far a s side effects but I am not certain that it is doing anything other than making me skinny!

Smile Hey there!

Kate,

The Cellcept has also caused weird vision for me, and I just started on it 3 months ago! I know exactly what you mean when you say "pixelated vision" and "blurry vision".

I was really worried about it, too!

I am on 1000 mg a day of Cellcept and 15 mgs of Prednisone, but have noticed my energy has gone waaaaaaaaaaay down since I've started on the Cellcept!

Hang in there my friend!
Erin

P.S. I've also noticed my appetite has gone down as my steroids have been reduced, but unfortunately my stomach hasn't! LOL

Default cellcept side-effects

Okay so I've been on Prograf and Cellcept for 9 years, Cyclosprine for 7 years before that. I remember my enzyme levels spiked after switching to Prograf, so they increased the dose and put me on Cellcept at the same time...made it really hard to figure out which med was causing the new side-effects, but I remember being really hot and sweaty (I would sympathize with my menopausal mother years later that I felt her pain and "remembered" hot flashes) in an air conditioned room, so hot and sweaty that people would think I'd been running out in the summer heat when I'd actually been lazy in doors and drinking water all day. I also would get little blue balls of light following my line of sight. My mother thought I was crazy, following little balls of light that didn't exist. But more recently, I've developed hypertropia of the left eye, the slightest turn of my head makes everything double. I have glasses with prisms now (have had them for a year) and sometimes it still happens even with my glasses on and now I get double vision close up because my eyes are fighting the prisms, even though at the time of diagnosis the doubling would only be of objects further away, so now I'm getting headaches from the eye strain all the time. Does this sound familiar to anyone at all? There's a lot of problems listed that can cause hypertropia in adults: diabetes (ruled out with A1C tests of 5.0 and 4.6), atherosclerosis (ruled out, Cholesterol is ideal), Graves disease (ruled out due to perfect TSH levels), any other ideas? I'm getting really sick of the headaches.

Your comments pushed me to post my own experience.
I took Cellcept for almost 5 years, and also pred...
I've been having vision problems for several years : glaucoma, second cataract surgery (the first one was before MG), two YAG laser series of shots for secondary cataract , blurry vision (not double) and curious vision which I would best describe as "vision through a camouflage net". Many clear spots with blurred dots both of similar size. Is that as you, redtail and erin, both describe as "pixelated vision"?
I also have frequent periods of hazy vision which tend to improve with several eyelid movements.
I however have a 9 and 8 vision score (corrected) which doesn't help my ophtalmologist to understand my problems...
One last comment, I quit Cellcept 3 months ago for lack of effect on my MG and I feel somewhat better...!
Maurice.
