Default Voice Recognition Software how did you get yours?

  • Did your doctor help make it possible ultimately? Or your lawyer?
  • Did it happen after you settled or were you successful in getting WC to provide compensation for the software as soon as your Dr or PT recommended it?
  • Was it necessary for you in order to return to your previous job or more like an adaptive daily living necessity?
Thanks for responses!

I just bought mine way back in 99- it was on sale, my hands didn't work much at all for a few weeks back then. I still use it sometimes when I need to. It is Via Voice.

I do think there are still some cheap or free VR programs available online, I haven't searched for them lately though.

here's a list from cnet's download.com -

I asked for but did not receive Dragon Naturally Speaking for Christmas.

My 14 yo son got a new laptop. I overheard him setting up a speach recognition program on it and I asked if he downloaded it. He said it came on the laptop and mine probably had it too.........low and behold...it does !

Default Used to be...

You could get it as part of your voc rehab package. If your state still offers voc rehab, you can get it if the rehab person who evaluates you recommends it.

Or, you can try a Dr.'s letter requesting it and go to court if the Ins. Co. denies the request. Or lastly, you can try to get it when you settle your case.

Good Luck!
