The research will require a skin sample, at their expense, to be used to create stem cells to discover what the mutation is missing that makes people more prone to having Parkinsonism.

If at all possible please participate to help future Parkinson patients.

Allright, I know this is a bumping up of this post. But people, this is very important research. Someone on this site must have a copy of their gene test besides myself. I remember someone telling me (no name) that there is another person with a Parkin mutation besides myself on this site. I have been waiting for a long time ever since I found out about my test result to be contacted to participate in research to find the factor that could cause Parkinsonism. The researcher mentioned above prooved the pesticide, rotenone caused Parkinsonism.

I emailed him in 2004 to discuss his findings. His nurse remembered my mentioning my Parkin test and reminded him of me. He has asked me if I knew of any others who had proof of a Parkin mutation. Please don't let him down.

Vicky, thank you for this information. We are in the Western NY area, and I sent it to our support group leader, who invited Dr. Feng to speak at our Dec. meeting about his research. Hopefully through our Parkinson's Association we can help him find PWP who have this gene. We live in the backyard of the University of Buffalo, and yet never knew this research was going on. This forum and others prove how important networking on the Internet is for advancicng research.
